This was when General Electric\u2019s Steve Kerr became the very first person to hold this job title. GE Chief Executive Officer Jack Welch invented the \u201cChief Learning Officer\u201d when he bestowed the title on Kerr, who was presently serving as a company training and development consultant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is a\u00a0Chief Learning Officer\u00a0(CLO)?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Succinctly defined by the business optimization software company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.continu.com\/blog\/chief-learning-officer#:~:text=A%20Chief%20Learning%20Officer%20is%20a%20C%2Dsuite%20employee%20so,the%20company%20as%20a%20whole\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Continu<\/a>, the\u00a0Chief Learning Officer\u00a0(CLO) is the individual in charge of all learning activities for a particular organization. CLOs generally work in an office environment and may need to put in long hours when deadlines must be reached or when emergencies must be addressed.
