In late-June, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will again host the Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders from Europe. The Center for Global Education is partnering with the College of Business to welcome 22 students from 18 European countries — Belarus, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom. These students will spend one month studying social entrepreneurship at UTC.<\/p>\n

The SUSI program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and is administered by the international development organization FHI 360. SUSI immerses European students in social entrepreneurship and American culture. Through formal instruction, experiential learning and local partnerships, students develop social entrepreneurship skills to benefit their home communities.<\/p>\n

The Center for Global Education invites UTC students, faculty and staff to welcome these students at the SUSI Welcome Luncheon on June 29, 2018 at 12 p.m. in the University Center Tennessee Room.<\/p>\n

The summer program is being spearheaded by Takeo Suzuki, Executive Director for the Center of Global Education, and Dr. Robert Dooley, Dean of the College of Business. “This is going to be a great experience for these students, and a wonderful opportunity to build important relationships for the university,” Suzuki says.<\/p>\n

The Center for Global Education is seeking families to host SUSI students for overnight stays and home-cooked meals.
