For the second year in a row, the UTC Business Empowerment Academy has received a $10,000 grant from the First Tennessee Foundation<\/a>.<\/strong> The program is open to first generation college students, students on free or reduced lunch, or under-represented students who are academically talented rising high school seniors (a senior in the fall of 2019) with a minimum GPA of 2.85. The grant will allow the program to focus on building a portfolio of skills in networking and overall professionalism, while reviewing the various majors offered in the Gary W. Rollins College of Business at UTC.<\/p>\n

The Business Empowerment Academy (BEA) is a 5-day residential program that offers the opportunity to interact one-on-one with university professors and successful business professionals through a variety of hands-on workshops, field trips and seminars. In addition, students will get a preview of college life and the Chattanooga experience through recreational events that include athletic activities, picnics, visits to area attractions and more. It is completely free of charge to participants.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

BEA will take place June 17-21, 2019 on UTC’s campus in downtown Chattanooga. Applications are still being accepted until May 15.<\/strong> To apply, visit www.utc.edu\/bea\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n
