On Wednesday, February 12, 2020, more than 60 female high school and UTC students attended Empower Your Future: a forum on women in Finance and Economics.\u00a0<\/strong>The forum was designed for young adults with a particular emphasis on young women.<\/p>\n

“I was so pleased with the support of our local and regional partners,” said Dr. Bento Lobo, Head of the Department of Finance and Economics at UTC. “I was especially pleased to announce new scholarships sponsored by The Trust Company of Tennessee and Financial Executives International for female students in Economics and Finance. We expect to do this event annually.”<\/p>\n

During the forum, students heard from women who currently work in the field of Finance and Economics on topics such as managing work-life balance, skills for female leaders\/students, questions the fields address, and student experiences at UTC. Panelists included Jackie Morgan<\/strong> (Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta), Carrie Green<\/strong> (State of Tennessee Treasury Department), Stefanie Mansueto<\/strong> (JPMorgan Chase), and Kim Schumpert<\/strong> (Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute).<\/p>\n

High school students who attended represented several Hamilton County schools such as Central High School, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, Red Bank High School, East Ridge High School, Boyd Buchanan, Lookout Valley High School, and Center for Creative Arts. Hardin Valley Academy of Knoxville, TN was also represented.<\/p>\n

“This was an awesome experience. Very informational!”<\/em><\/p>\n
