The final Conversation on Democracy in 2022 (co-sponsored by Tennessee Democracy Forum, the Department of Political Science and Public Service, and the Adolph S. Ochs Professor of Government), brings Salin Geevarghese back to Chattanooga. The Conversation will take place on Friday, October 21st at 3:30 p.m. in Derthick Hall 101, where Salin received his undergraduate degree and his late father, Professor P.K. Geevarghese, was a member of the faculty for forty years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salin Geevarghese is the President & CEO of SGG Insight, LLC, a consulting firm offering comprehensive services to public, private, nonprofit and philanthropic sector leaders and organizations. He also serves as Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) as well as the founding Director of the Mixed-Income Strategic Alliance and its Innovation and Action Network.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From April 2014 to January 2017, Geevarghese served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development after serving in other senior roles at HUD, with a focus on place-based economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During our Conversation with Salin, we\u2019ll focus on the need for a pro-democracy economic agenda that addresses the challenges that many low-income neighborhoods and communities continue to face. But we\u2019ll also ask Salin to reflect on some of the issues of race and immigration that he discussed in a\u00a02020 Washington Post op-ed<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
