Dr. Jejal Reddy Bathi (Civil & Chemical Engineering) has received $30,000 from the U.S. Geological Survey for the project entitled, “Tennessee Water Resources Research Center Program.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Christopher Cunningham (Psychology) has requested and received $22,677 from an industry sponsor for research related to persistence and retention within the nursing workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ignatius Fomunung and Dr. Joseph Owino (Civil & Chemical Engineering), in collaboration with Tennessee State University, have received $24,930 from the Tennessee Department of Transportation for the project entitled, “Investigation of Towing Regulation in Tennessee.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erin Ryan and Carolyn Runyon (Library) have received $3,630 from the Tennessee State Library and Archives for the project entitled, “Part Time Archivist\/Student Assistant.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi and Dr. Osama Osman (CUIP) have received $100,000 from the Tennessee Department of Transportation for the project entitled, “Feasibility of Real-Time Infrastructure-Driven Intervention for Improving Pedestrian Safety.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has received $37,367 from Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the project entitled, “Traffic State Estimation, Detection, and Prediction for City-Level Energy Efficient Operation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Joey Shaw (Biology, Geology, & Environmental Science) has received $28,883 from the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the project entitled, “A Rare and Endangered Vascular Plant Inventory of Apios priceana and Clematis morefieldii within the Walls of Jericho, Alabama.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Tony Skjellum (Sim Center), in collaboration with the University of New Mexico, has received $237,501 from the National Nuclear Security Administration for the project entitled, “Center for Understandable, Performant Exascale Communication Systems.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Kim Wingate, Dr. Jennifer Lynberg, and Dr. Jason Gordon (School of Education) have received $650,288 from the Tennessee Department of Education for the project entitled, “Grow Your Own: Teacher Occupation Apprenticeship.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Murat Barisik (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $199,998 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “ERI: Molecular-level characterization of gas and solid heat conduction in aerogels.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hill Craddock and Taylor Perkins (Biology, Geology, & Environmental Science), in collaboration with the University of Missouri, have requested $11,510 from the Missouri Department of Conservation for the project entitled, “Population genomics of diversity, adaptation, and gene flow in American chestnut.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. David Giles (Biology, Geology, & Environmental Science) has requested $14,924 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “Comprehensive Assessment of the in vitro Efficacy for Synergistic TheraPUFA Treatment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. June Hanks and Dr. Betsy Myers (Physical Therapy) have requested $665 from the American Physical Therapy Association for the project entitled, “Validity and Reliability of Joint Motion Assessment Devices.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Amber Hickey (Art) has requested $74,798 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the project entitled, “Visualities of Radical Care: Decolonial Art and Activism Beyond the Necrocene.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Hamdy Ibrahim (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $197,175 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “ERI: Fabrication and Corrosion Modeling of Biodegradable Synthetic Heart Valves.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Max Jordon and Dr. Matthew Grubb (Physical Therapy) have requested $1,000 from the Tennessee Physical Therapy Association for the project entitled, “Short- and Intermediate-Term Effects of Electro Dry Needling on Temporal Summation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Erkan Kaplanoglu (Engineering Management & Technology), Dr. Frank Tudini, and Dr. Max Jordon (Physical Therapy) have requested $28,694 from Stanford University for the project entitled, “Vision and Instrumented Assessment of Reactional Postural Control of the Trunk Musculature in Individuals with Chronic Low Back Pain.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Erkan Kaplanoglu, Dr. Ahad Nasab, and Dr. Gokhan Erdemir (Engineering Management & Technology) have requested $14,850 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “Wearable Device for Upper Extremity Essential Tremor.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Daniel Loveless, Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering), and Dr. Tony Skjellum (Sim Center) have requested $51,000 from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency via a collaboration with CFD Research Corporation for the project entitled, “Efficient characterization and analysis of radiation hardness in System-on-a-Chip (SoC) and 3D Integrated Circuit (3D IC) using spectroscopy and machine learning.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Mohammad Mahtabi (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $197,646 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “ERI: Rapid Fatigue-Life Prediction based on a New Strain-Energy Density Damage Parameter.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Daniel Pack, Dr. Abdelrahman Karrar (Electrical Engineering), Dr. Tian Li (Chemistry & Physics), John Freeze (Center for Professional Education), and Mike Bradshaw (Marketing & Entrepreneurship) have requested $835,254 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “NSF Engines: Type 1: Southeast Center for Quantum Networks and Applications (SECQuNA).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Reetesh Ranjan (Mechanical Engineering) has requested $159,427 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “ERI: Computational Investigation of High-Pressure Turbulent Premixed Flames – Physical Insights and Two-Scale Predictive Modeling.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Irven Resnick (Philosophy) has requested $199,996 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the project entitled, “Thomas of Cantimpr\u00e9’s On the Nature of Things and Natural Philosophy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carolyn Runyon, Erin Ryan, and Albert Salatka (Library) have requested $144,049 from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission for the project entitled, “”One of the Black Legislators”: Providing Access to the Tommie F. Brown Papers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Tony Skjellum (Sim Center) and Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering), in collaboration with the University of Arkansas, have requested $68,749 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “NSF Engines: Type 1: An Engine for the Research and Development of AI-Enhanced Security and Security-Enhanced AI.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Morgan Smith (Social, Cultural, & Justice Studies) has requested $149,590 from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the project entitled, “The Search for the Santa Gloria Caravels: A Maritime Cultural Landscape Study of Seville Heritage Park, Jamaica.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Khalid Tantawi, Dr. Erkan Kaplanoglu, Dr. Ahad Nasab (Engineering Management & Technology), and Dr. Yunye Shi (Mechanical Engineering), in collaboration with the Motlow State Community College, have requested $210,495 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Preparing the Workforce for the Metaverse.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Serkan Varol (Engineering Management & Technology) has submitted a preliminary proposal to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for the project entitled, “Understanding the Inequities in Food Insecurity Among African American Children and Their Parents During COVID-19 Pandemic.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Jin Wang (Mathematics) has requested $851,118 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “MODULUS: Fluid Dynamics in Plant Cell Growth: Experimentation, Modeling, and Simulation.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
