The following UTC Faculty and Staff have attracted $305,250<\/strong> in external grant and contract awards:<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Dawn Ford and Emma Sampson (Health & Human Performance), in collaboration with the City of Chattanooga, have received $14,263 from the Office of Minority Health for the project entitled, “UTC MPH Program Support of City of Chattanooga’s CARE Coalition.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Ralph Hood and Matthew Durham (Psychology), in collaboration with the Universitat Bielefeld, have received $35,000 from the John Templeton Foundation for the project entitled, “Faith Development Longitudinal Study Part Three.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Erkan Kaplanoglu and Ahad Nasab (Engineering Management & Technology) have received $5,000 from the University of Tennessee Research Foundation for the project entitled, “Wearable Device for Upper Extremity Essential Tremor.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering) has received $172,943 from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, as a subaward from a partner university, for the project entitled, “Fundamental Research in Radiation Effects under The IIRM Alliance.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Hong Qin (Computer Science & Engineering) has been named a, \u201cAIM-AHEAD Research Fellowship Institutional Mentor\u201d by the University of North Texas Health Science Center.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi (CUIP) has requested and received $68,044 from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory for the project entitled, “ORNL Joint Faculty Appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following UTC faculty and staff members submitted proposals for the potential to generate over $4,464,470<\/strong> in external funding, if awarded:<\/em><\/p>\n

Dr. Tian Li (Chemistry & Physics), in collaboration with the University of Tennessee \u2013 Knoxville, has submitted a preliminary proposal to the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Security of Quantum Sensors in an Industrial Network.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Tian Li (Chemistry & Physics), Dr. Tony Skjellum (SimCenter), and Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) have submitted a preliminary proposal to the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Heisenberg-Limited Quantum Sensing Across Entanglement Distributed Quantum Networks.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Daniel Loveless (Electrical Engineering), in collaboration with Nimbis Services, Inc., has requested $148,000 from the Missile Defense Agency for the project entitled, “Foundry Assurance Modeling & Experiments for Radiation Hardened (FAME-RH) Applications.”<\/p>\n

Charles Mix and Nyssa Hunt (IGTLab) have requested $8,058 from Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “Tennessee RiverLine GAP Analysis.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Hong Qin (Computer Science & Engineering) has requested $448,888 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “MODULUS: Uncovering Driving Genes for Cell Fate Determination in Cellular Aging.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Donald Reising (Electrical Engineering) has requested $99,973 from Tennessee Valley Authority for the project entitled, “Learning from Power Signals: Integration & Deployment.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Mina Sartipi, Austin Harris, and Dr. Osama Osman (CUIP) have requested $1,135,668 from the Federal Highway Administration for the project entitled, “Advanced Artificial Intelligence Research for Equitable Safety of Vulnerable Road Users.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Tony Skjellum and David Walker (SimCenter), in collaboration with four other universities, have requested $1,393,191 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “Frameworks: Next-Generation Explicit Parallel Programming Middleware for Better Performance, Reproducibility, and Interoperability on Heterogeneous Platforms.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Tony Skjellum and David Walker (SimCenter), in collaboration with Northeastern University, have requested $596,976 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SHF: CNS: Medium: A Paravirtualized Architecture for MPI and Enhanced HPC Capabilities.”<\/p>\n

Drs. Tony Skjellum and David Walker (SimCenter), in collaboration with Boston University, have requested $29,9087 from the National Science Foundation for the project entitled, “SHF: Small: ACiS: Application Control and Complex Processing in the Switch Fabric.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Tony Skjellum, Dr. Sandra Affare (SimCenter), Dr. Jose Barbosa (Biology, Geology, & Environmental Science), and Dr. Chandra Ward (Sociology) have requested $24,795 from the American Water Charitable Foundation for the project entitled, “Developing a Healthier Community with STEM-Education & Agricultural Projects.”<\/p>\n

Rachel Waldrop (Art) has requested $5,000 from Tri-Star Arts for the project entitled, “As it Was Give(n) To Me: Stacy Kranitz.”<\/p>\n
