Details<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UTC Environmental Studies program<\/strong><\/a> invites you to a lecture on “Deep Time, Climate Change, and Mass Extinction” from visiting scholar Dr. Dan Spencer. In his talk, Dr. Spencer explores how the geological discovery of “deep time” has revealed the Earth’s history of climate change and how it relates to periods of mass extinctions of Earth’s forms of life. This history can help us understand the dynamics of species extinction and climate change today, and suggest ways to avoid catastrophic environmental change in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dan Spencer<\/strong> is professor emeritus and former director of the University of Montana Environmental Studies program. He is the author of Gay and Gaia: Ethics, Ecology, and the Erotic <\/em>and co-author of Earth Ethics: A Case Study Approach. <\/em>He works with the Young Southeast Asia Leadership Institute through the Mansfield Center at the University of Montana and has served on the international Board for the Society for Ecological Restoration<\/a>, the Missoula Open Space Advisory Committee, and the Wild Rockies Field Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
