Abstract:
The growing population of space debris and inactive satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) is threatening collisions with the active satellites. Collisions in LEO can produce more orbital debris, which in turn can cause additional collisions. Orbital collisions can lead to a domino effect, known as the Kessler syndrome, where the density of debris in low Earth orbit becomes so high it starts a continuous series of collisions and space debris generation. This research uses data of approximately 65,000 anthropogenic space objects (ASOs) in Earth orbit dated from the first ASO launched in 1957 to April 1st, 2022, to provide a comprehensive analysis of all the monitored objects in Earth’s Orbit. This research will explore the current state of space debris and mitigating solution. The findings of this research will contribute to the ongoing efforts to address the challenges of space debris and promote sustainable space exploration.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
