For my study abroad trip, I travel to Cuzco, Peru. In Cuzco, I witnessed beautiful scenery, a distinct culture, and interesting people. I was also able to learn Spanish and volunteer in a clinic for a month. It was without a doubt a life changing experience, and Peru was defiantly the right choice for me.<\/p>\n

Not only does Peru have one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, but also many other worldwide attractions. Cuzco is located in the heart of the Andes Mountains. I had the opportunity to visit Machu Picchu, lake Titicaca, which is the highest lake elevation in the world, and Rainbow Mountain. Not only was I able to travel to these amazing places, but I also rode motorcycles through the mountains multiple times. Because I was in Peru for a extended amount of time, I was able to really get to know the culture I was surrounded in.<\/p>\n

My particular host family did not speak English, this really forced me to learn to speak the language faster. Personally, I went from a very light, high school Spanish background to being able to carry on in-depth conversations with locals. In addition to my Spanish classes, I volunteered in a small clinic. Much like my host home, only Spanish was spoken at the clinic, except for the occasional child who would\u00a0 want to practice as much English as he knew with me. Working in the clinic was definitely a highlight in my trip.<\/p>\n

Another amazing aspect of Peru, in particular Cuzco, were the people. Not only the locals, but also the tourists. I was able to meet people from all over the world. I had classmates from all parts of North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. Cuzco is a very popular destination for vacation. I am without a doubt interested in returning to Peru one day.<\/p>\n

I would definitely recommend traveling to Peru for studying abroad. It is an amazing place for outdoor activities. I experienced the most beautiful hikes and drives of my life while living in Peru. The history and culture of Peru are ancient and rich. I hope my experiences will encourage others to venture out, and study abroad.<\/p>\n

Taylor Rogers is working towards a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Exercise Science. He spent a semester studying abroad in Cuzco, Peru through NRCSA. Taylor had the following to say about his time abroad, \u201cStudying abroad was a great opportunity for me to branch out and really learn about myself. By living in a host home while studying abroad, I was able to really understand the culture and people of Peru. Whether it was visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World, or going to the open market with my host family, without a doubt my trip to Peru was life changing. This venture, I believe, prepared me greatly for the next stage in my life. I gained the ability to speak another language, which is always helpful. Also, I obtained a significant amount of independence which I will need for the rest of my life. I am extremely grateful for my time abroad!\u00a0\u00a1Viva Per\u00fa!”<\/em><\/p>\n
