My study abroad in London is hands down the best choice I have ever made and has taught me so much about connecting with people of different backgrounds and putting myself in a position to try and learn new things. I chose London because this city features various cultures and opportunities for people from all over. This city presents a unique benefit as no matter where you go or what you do, you will experience something new. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The process leading up to my study abroad seemed daunting as if I would never leave the United States. However, the UTC staff and my friends and family, went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly and made sure I felt supported. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a London University while living in an off campus flat with my best friend who had already lived in London. Having a friend to travel with made the fear of homesickness and culture shock minuscule. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I chose to study at London Metropolitan University through ISEP. I chose this because ISEP allowed me to live off campus and London Metropolitan was in North London where I was staying. ISEP was very helpful and offered competitive prices compared to other London programs. Something I think is important to note before studying in Europe is how different they organize their schoolwork and classrooms. It feels a bit less formal as students and teachers respect each other more as peers than a typical teacher-student relationship. I would recommend to anyone studying abroad to research their host countries education system and grading scale to avoid any surprises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite my concerns as being perceived as the \u201cstupid American,\u201d Londoners welcomed me with open arms and were surprisingly curious about my life in the United States. Studying in another country gave me a new perspective to education which I feel is extremely valuable and has made me a more self-aware person. However, my favorite part about living in London is the ability to see the rest of Europe. As I write this paper I am still in London for another month and a half and have yet to do the bulk of my traveling. So far, I have been to Milan and Dublin which were both amazing. Milan was beautiful and I went during fashion week which meant it was much livelier and felt more exclusive as the surrounding fashion was impeccable. My favorite part was the architecture and the food. Roman ruins, old cathedrals, and the best pizza I\u2019ve ever tasted solidified my love for Italy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For St. Patrick\u2019s Day I went to Dublin, Ireland and it was amazing. My favorite part was the traditional music and the ability to travel to the Irish countryside which was beautiful. You can travel by train or plane with affordable options for both. Hostels present an even more affordable option to those traveling on a budget. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wouldn\u2019t trade my study abroad for the world, I\u2019ve gained so much including travel experience, beautiful views, cultural awareness, experience with public transport, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After studying abroad I have some of the craziest stories I have to tell and don’t regret a thing. Step out of your comfort zone and be open to new opportunities.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
