This week on Workstation, body language expert Dr. Donna Van Natten presented \u201cUnderstanding and Mastering Your Tone of Voice.\u201d Donna shared how 38% of communication is based on tone of voice. She explained how the tonal parts of voice\u2014pitch, timbre, loudness, and resonance\u2014are the parts we are born with and take more effort to control. However, the stylistic elements of our voice\u2014speech rate, response length, speech latency, pauses, and speech errors\u2014are the aspects that are easier to control. Donna also shared best practices for controlling stylistic vocal elements and emphasized the importance of tone even in written communication, such as email.<\/p>\n
