As we approach the end of the semester and look ahead to 2022, I would like to wish our students, faculty and staff a very Happy Thanksgiving.\u00a0 Thank you for all you do to make UTC a special place.\u00a0 Together with our alumni and community partners, we are The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga!<\/p>\n

The UTC Center for Global Education\u2019s International Education Week 2021<\/a> festivities continue through Friday, November 19.\u00a0 Every year, UTC and other colleges across the country celebrate International Education Week\u2014a joint initiative of the U.S. departments of State and Education\u2014by offering students, faculty and staff an opportunity to engage in cross-cultural understanding through special events focused on international learning, leadership and exchange.<\/p>\n

Our Mocs football team will honor veterans during Military Appreciation Day ceremonies this Saturday at Finley Stadium.\u00a0 The kickoff for the home season finale against The Citadel is at 1:30 p.m.\u00a0 Gameday events also include Senior Day festivities, so come on out and show your support for our team.\u00a0 Go Mocs!<\/p>\n

Congratulations to women\u2019s soccer team defender Maggie Shaw on being named a first-team all-Southern Conference selection for the second straight season and a member of the SoCon all-tournament team for the second time in three years.\u00a0 Way to go, Maggie!<\/p>\n

Neshawn Calloway, a UTC alumna with a master\u2019s of music education, was one of 13 teachers nationwide honored for educational excellence at the recent Country Music Awards in Nashville.\u00a0 Calloway is a vocal music instructor at Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts.<\/p>\n

I hope you take the opportunity to read the fall 2021 edition of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga<\/em> magazine.\u00a0 The theme, \u201cUTC in the Community,\u201d reflects how our campus and community partner together to offer an engaging educational experience for our students.\u00a0 Although there have been several digital editions since the pandemic began, it has been a pleasure to hold a physical magazine, read the stories and see the images of the people of UTC.\u00a0 The publication is also available online – view it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Finally, speaking of community, the leadership of the UTC Alumni Board recently gathered to celebrate the official unveiling of Mocs Alumni Drive<\/a> (formerly East Fifth Street), a main campus thoroughfare that runs from McKenzie Arena to Palmetto Street.\u00a0 Thank you to Drew Holland and Richard Johnson, who led the charge to change the name!<\/p>\n
