With snow and ice behind us, we are back on track, heading into a successful Spring Semester. \u00a0We have many things to celebrate as the campus continues to move forward.\u00a0 Several of these are described below.<\/p>\n
Our enrollment numbers are up in comparison to last spring.\u00a0 Total enrollment is 10,543, up 1% from this time last year.\u00a0 Graduate enrollment is up 4.7% compared to Spring Semester 2017.<\/p>\n
The quality of a UTC education is being noticed.\u00a0 Enrollment for Fall 2018 is already looking strong.\u00a0 Our total undergraduate applications for 2018 are up an amazing 42 percent over 2017.\u00a0 Thank you to the entire campus for doing such a great job.<\/p>\n
UTC faculty and staff continue to enjoy increased success in securing extramural grant funding.\u00a0 The increase in grant dollars is a testament to the hard work and perseverance by faculty and staff. \u00a0In Fiscal Year 2017, grant awards from external sources rose 13.5 percent to more $10 million!\u00a0 The future also looks bright with grant applications up by almost 60 percent.<\/p>\n
Congratulations to our staff in Career Services and Pre-Health Professions Advising for their outstanding work on the Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s UTC Suit Up event. \u00a0Held Sunday, January 21, at the Hamilton Place JC Penney, more than 200 students came to receive expert advice on how to dress for success. \u00a0First impressions are important, and Suit Up helps our students put their best foot forward.\u00a0 JC Penny opened the store just for UTC students and provided a 40% discount on purchases.\u00a0 Thank you to JC Penny for helping our students prepare for the future.<\/p>\n
Our annual Spring Career Day is set for Thursday, February 1, in the University Center\u2019s Tennessee Room. \u00a0From 1:00-3:00 p.m. and again from 5:00-7:00 p.m., students from all majors can talk with representatives from many local companies and learn about entry-level positions and experiential learning opportunities such as internships and summer and part-time positions.
