March is Women\u2019s History Month, and there are more than one dozen events taking place on campus to celebrate, including discussions, panels, luncheons, even a trip to see the new Captain Marvel<\/em> movie, which features a female superhero. StoryCorps, the well-known program on National Public Radio, is coming to Chattanooga thanks to the hard work of the staff at WUTC-FM 88.1, our campus radio station. The program, which uses simple conversations to build a deeper understanding of people across the country, is bringing its MobileBooth to Miller Park from March 19 to April 7. The conversations recorded there will later be broadcast on WUTC-FM. To be part of the StoryCorps experience, register at wutc.org<\/a>. This is a chance for all of us to get to know each other better, and I highly recommend being part of it.<\/p>\n

Speaking of WUTC, the station\u2019s new smartphone app is available for download. It can be downloaded from the App Store for iPhone or Google Play for Android phones.\u00a0On your smartphone screen, you will find the WUTC website listing program schedules, news headlines and donation buttons. You can now carry WUTC with you wherever you go.<\/p>\n

UTC has long been at the forefront of high-performance computing with our SimCenter leading the way. Working with the Enterprise Center and the City of Chattanooga, SimCenter Director Anthony Skjellum organized the MPI Forum, a five-day computing conference that this week has brought research labs, universities and companies from around the world to Chattanooga. The conference gives us the chance to show off the capabilities of the SimCenter, whose computers are among the fastest and most powerful in the world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
