UTC was honored and I was personally humbled by our selection as the recipient of the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga\u2019s \u201cInclusion by Design Award,\u201d which recognizes an organization that embraces inclusion through its business practices and community engagement activities. \u00a0UTC received the award based on the many ways we foster diversity and inclusion in our community.\u00a0 This award is clearly a team effort \u2013 our campus earned the \u201cInclusion by Design Award,\u201d and everyone is to be congratulated for this success.<\/p>\n
Our nursing students achieved a 100% pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for both semesters of the 2018-2019 academic year!\u00a0\u00a0 WOW \u2013 what an accomplishment.\u00a0 A big round of applause goes out not only to our students but also to the outstanding faculty and staff in our Nursing Program.<\/p>\n
Please join me in congratulating Honors College Dean Linda Frost on winning the 2019 National Collegiate Honors Council\u2019s Sam Schuman Award for Excellence at a Four Year Institution. \u00a0This award is presented at the national conference and recognizes those who are making outstanding contributions to the honors community at four-year institutions. \u00a0This is a tremendous honor and speaks volumes about the incredible work Linda and her team are doing in the Honors College.<\/p>\n
Kudos go out to STEM director Jennifer Ellis and emeritus faculty member Linda Collins on being selected as 2019 Women of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga. \u00a0This award honors women who set themselves apart through leadership and philanthropic activities in the Chattanooga area. \u00a0Jennifer and Linda are indeed women of distinction, and we are excited they are being recognized for their dedication to our university and community.<\/p>\n
Veterans Day is a time for all of us to reflect on the commitments and sacrifices of our armed forces and the service they provide to our country. Festivities start on Friday, November 8, with the annual UTC TAPS Project. \u00a0You will find this to be a very moving musical event, as the melody of \u201cTaps\u201d will slowly make its way across campus thanks to the strategic placement of trumpet players around the university grounds. On Monday, November 11, all veterans and active service members are invited to our annual Veterans Day Luncheon. \u00a0The guest speaker is retired U.S. Army Major General William B. Raines, Jr. \u00a0On Friday, November 15, a \u201cThank You for Your Service\u201d note-writing event will take place in the University Center.<\/p>\n
Our Mocs football team will honor veterans during Military Appreciation Day ceremonies on Saturday, November 16, at Finley Stadium. \u00a0Kickoff for the home season finale against Southern Conference rival The Citadel is 2 p.m. \u00a0A Military Appreciation pregame tailgate will also take place at First Tennessee Pavilion beginning at 10:30 a.m. \u00a0Please come out and show your spirit. \u00a0Go Mocs!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
