The CECS members of the campus chapter of the National Association of Black Engineers (NSBE) take it as their mission to help lower those anxiety levels by offering day-long ACT prep courses each Fall and Spring complete with a pizza lunch and fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, November 11, members of the CECS NSBE Chapter, faculty, and staff once again offered an admissions test workshop for the ninth consecutive year.\u00a0\u00a0 Open to high school juniors and seniors across the region, more than thirty students came to the College on a Saturday morning for instruction in test content and test-taking strategies. They were welcomed by Dean Pack, followed by information sharing by Julie David, Student Success Center Director.<\/p>\n<p>The CECS NSBE chapter is sponsored by Dr. Raga Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering, who supported the students in the coordination of the day\u2019s events and the administration and scoring of a complete ACT sample test.\u00a0 Dr. Ahmed was joined by UTC Testing Center Director Ms. Tonya Botts, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering Dr. Soubantika Palchoudhury, and Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering \u00a0Dr. Nur Sisworahardjo in instructing the students on testing procedures and content.<\/p>\n<p>Collegiate membership in NSBE is open to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Preparing to take the ACT admissions test can be stressful for high school students, parents, guidance counselors, and teachers.
