A founding member of the CECS Dean\u2019s Student Advisory Council, Shika also served as President of the University-wide Graduate Student Association (GSA) during the 2015-16 year. The GSA is the official governing body of graduate and professional students at UTC which advocates for graduate students\u2019 rights both on and off campus through UTC administrative committees, regular correspondence with the Deans, and other University officials.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Shika was selected by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) as a participant in the Volkswagen (VW) Distinguished Scholar Program. As a VW Scholar she will begin an internship with ORNL this summer.
