With experience in the corporate sector with the firms, Eastman Chemical and Kimberly-Clark Corporation, he applied his knowledge and skills to product research and development prior to completion of his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.<\/p>\n<p>Starting Spring 2016, Dr. Harris welcomed his role as teacher, mentor, and researcher.\u00a0He also serves\u00a0as the Chemical Hygiene Officer for the College, overseeing\u00a0 the College\u2019s safety program including annual safety training for faculty, staff, and students; proper procurement, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals; and inspection of the CECS laboratories. Dr. Harris\u2019 efforts in compilation of information, updated safety signage, and development of an Open Lab Policy were vital to the effective implementation of additional lab safety initiatives during the spring and summer months.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Harris is passionate about undergraduate research and is focused on offering opportunities for Chemical Engineering students interested in bio-related research. He seeks to apply engineering principles to solving biological problems, with particular focus on the critical areas of: drug development, the treatment of diseases, alternative energy, and renewable routes to commodity chemicals. Dr. Harris serves as the faculty\u00a0advisor\u00a0of the student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AiChE).<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Harris and his wife, Kristen, share their home with their feline friends, Omar and Dexter. \u00a0They enjoy traveling, music, spending time with family and friends, and VOLS football.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Bradley Harris joined the CECS faculty in 2015 .
