Cooper\u2019s research efforts are extensive, and his work with the late <strong>Dr. Frank Jones<\/strong> led to his participation in an National Science Foundation-funded program at Emory University last summer.\u00a0 From the a highly competitive cohort of participants in that program, he was selected to travel to Japan for 10 weeks later this month.\u00a0 While in Japan Cooper will be studying micro and nano structures of tissues, and will be afforded the opportunity for travel and cultural immersion. The UC Foundation seeks to support faculty who have demonstrated excellence in the University\u2019s three-fold mission of teaching, research, and service.\u00a0 In addition to the UC Foundation Professorships, the UCF funds the University\u2019s premier faculty distinction, the Guerry Professorship.\u00a0 <strong>Dr. Li Yang<\/strong>, Professor of Computer Science and Assistant Dean of the College, was recently named a Guerry Professor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Order of the Engineer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the evening of April 25, CECS welcomed <span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>27<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>students into the <strong>Order of the Engineer<\/strong>.
