Prof. Julia Cummiskey’s Fellowship<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Prof. Cummiskey<\/a> is spending the year at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD as a post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of the History of Medicine<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She will be teaching graduate courses in the history of medicine and public health and working on her book about virus research in East Africa.\u00a0 She will return to the UTC Department of History in Fall 2020.<\/p>\n

Prof. Susan Eckelmann Berghel’s Publications<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Prof. Eckelmann Berghel<\/a>‘s co-edited volume Growing Up America: Youth and Politics since 1945<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is slated for publication with the University of Georgia Press in December 2019.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her book chapter, \u201c\u2018Straight from My Heart\u2019: Black Lives, Affective Citizenship, and 1960s American Politics,\u201d was published in the volume Children\u2019s Voices from the Past<\/em><\/a>\u200b, ed. Kris Moruzi. London: Palgrave, 2019.<\/p>\n

Dr. Fang Yu Hu’s Award Highlighted by Chancellor Angle<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Chancellor Angle’s Sep. 5 C-Note<\/a> highlighted Dr. Hu<\/a>‘s receipt of the prestigious AAUW American Fellowship<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>“Congratulations also are due two members of the UTC family: Fang Yu Hu<\/strong>, a faculty member in the Department of History, and Konya Smith, a student in engineering management. Both received funding from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) to further their academic careers. Dr. Hu<\/strong> received the American Fellowship<\/a> to pursue research in history. Ms. Smith received the Career Development Grant to help her pursue her master\u2019s degree in engineering management.”<\/p>\n

Prof. Will Kuby’s Book Released in Paperback<\/h3>\n

Prof. Kuby<\/a>‘s book, Conjugal Misconduct: <\/em>Defying Marriage Law in the Twentieth-Century United States<\/em> (Cambridge University Press<\/a>), was released in paperback in September 2019 and is available for purchase<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Kira Robison’s Book Manuscript<\/h3>\n

Prof. Robison<\/a> has nearly completed her book manuscript, Healers in the Making: Students, Physicians, and Medical Education in Medieval Bologna (1250-1550).<\/em><\/p>\n

Prof. John Swanson’s Research Supported with Numerous Awards<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Prof. Swanson<\/a> recently received the following honors:<\/p>\n

A position as a guest researcher at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe, University of Leipzig.<\/p>\n

An award from the U.S. Fulbright Scholars Program for the project entitled \u201cIdentity Crises in the Borderlands: The People and their Communities in Lili Jacob\u2019s Auschwitz Album.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and La Fondation pour la Memoire de la Shoah for the project entitled \u201cIdentity Crises in the Borderlands: The People and their Communities in Lili Jacob\u2019s Auschwitz Album.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prof. Annie Tracy Samuel Featured on PBS Show<\/h3>\n

Prof. Tracy Samuel<\/a> was a guest on a recent episode on U.S.-Iran relations of the PBS Show The Whole Truth with David Eisenhower<\/a><\/em>, a show that features civil, thoughtful, and enlightening debate on issues of the day.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Whole Truth<\/em><\/a> is hosted by David Eisenhower, historian and author, professor at the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania, and grandson and namesake of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.\u00a0 It is produced by the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia<\/a>, the premier public policy platform in America\u2019s birthplace and one of the top speaking forums in the United States.<\/p>\n
