History majors<\/a> participate in numerous classes, programs, and experiences in which they undertake original research projects.\u00a0 Here are two recent examples.<\/h4>\n

\"\"<\/a>JheDienne Adams<\/a><\/strong>, history major and recipient<\/a> of the Dr. William H. Masterson Memorial Scholarship<\/a> awarded for excellent performance in history and humanities courses, was selected by the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor (URaCE<\/a>) to participate in the Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates<\/a>.\u00a0 Her project was entitled “Strange Fruit: A Historical Examination of the Black Female Body as More than Medical Material” and was supervised by Dr. William Kuby<\/a>.\u00a0 JheDienne presented that project at the Undergraduate Research Symposium<\/a> held on August 28, 2019, as seen in the pictures below.<\/p>\n

History major Mason Fox<\/a><\/strong> successfully defended her D-hon<\/a> thesis, \u201cThe Vietnam War at Home and Abroad: Soldiers, Military Leadership, and the Antiwar Movement,\u201d supervised by Dr. Susan Eckelmann Berghel<\/a>, in the spring.\u00a0 Fox\u2019s research was funded by the Council of Scholars<\/a> and History Department scholarships.\u00a0 Mason also earned the SGA\u2019s Outstanding Senior Award.\u00a0 Mason graduated from UTC in May 2019.<\/p>\n
