Come meet a group of political scientists with expertise in Black Politics and who approach the question of social justice through a variety of lenses: culture, political behavior, and political theory. The discussion should be robust, they know each other so the dialogue should be exciting, and there will be lots of opportunities to ask questions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Najja K. Baptist, Assistant Professor of Political Science, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Baptist is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville. He earned his doctorate in political science from Howard University and his work has appeared in numerous journals, such as\u00a0National Political Science Review<\/i>,\u00a0Journal of Race and Ethnicity<\/i>,\u00a0Politics, Groups, and Identities<\/i>, and other outlets. Dr. Baptist\u2019s work is primarily focused on Black politics, social movements, culture, political behavior, public opinion, and mass media in the United States.\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Emmitt Y. Riley, III, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies, DePauw University\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Riley is Assistant Professor and Director of the Africana Studies program at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He earned his PhD in political science from the University of Mississippi. The National Conference of Black Political Scientists has named him the 2018 Anna Julia Cooper Teacher of the Year and in 2020, bestowed on him the Fannie Lou Hamer Award for Service. Dr. Riley has teaching and research interests in race politics, Black politics, legislative-process, political representation, racial resentment, and Africana studies. His research has appeared in journals such as the\u00a0Journal of Black Studies<\/i>,\u00a0Journal of Race & Policy<\/i>, and the\u00a0National Review of Black Politics<\/i>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Leniece Titani-Smith, Associate Professor of Political Science, Jackson State University\u00a0<\/b><\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Titani-Smith is Associate Professor of Political Science & Faculty Fellow, Office of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Jackson State University, an historic black university in Mississippi. Dr. Smith recently served as the Interim Chair of the Department of Political Science. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. Dr. Titani-Smith\u2019s research areas include Black political attitudes, political thought, and media and politics. Her research has appeared in such journals as the\u00a0National Political Science Review<\/i>,\u00a0Illinois Political Science Review<\/i>, and the\u00a0Journal of Race and Policy<\/i>.\u00a0<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n
