This talk will examine how the 2020 Presidential Election results will impact the quest for Black liberation and social justice. Relying on exit polling data and election return, this talk will explain determinants of support for the winner and the campaign’s major issues. The talk will also examine how the election will impact issues that are important to African American communities. Finally, the talk will examine\u00a0Shelby County v. Holder’s<\/i>\u00a0impact on voting rights in the 2020 Presidential Election.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Professor Riley is Assistant Professor and Director of the Africana Studies program at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He earned his PhD in political science from the University of Mississippi. The National Conference of Black Political Scientists has named him the 2018 Anna Julia Cooper Teacher of the Year and in 2020, bestowed on him the Fannie Lou Hamer Award for Service. Dr. Riley has teaching and research interests in race politics, Black politics, legislative-process, political representation, racial resentment, and Africana studies. His research has appeared in journals such as the\u00a0Journal of Black Studies<\/i>,\u00a0Journal of Race & Policy<\/i>, and the\u00a0National Review of Black Politics<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
