Dr. Anotida Chikumbu joins the UTC History Department as Assistant Professor of African History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The UTC History Department is thrilled to welcome Dr. Anotida Chikumbu as our newest Assistant Professor! Dr. Chikumbu is a professor of African History, having recently completed his Ph.D. in the Department of History at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. While at UMass, he also worked as an assistant to the editor-in-chief at the University of Massachusetts Press. Dr. Chikumbu is a member of the Military Welfare History Network (MWHN), based at the University College Dublin, in Ireland. In 2022, he was selected to be among 21 Society for Military History inaugural fellows at the Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Dr. Chikumbu previously studied and taught economic history at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare. His broader research interest is the history of Southern Africa and the United States. He is particularly interested in histories of slavery and resistance, colonialism, apartheid and nationalism, civil rights and liberation movements, military welfare, war veterans, assassinations, military coup d’\u00e9tats, post-conflict reconstruction, peace building, elections and presidential leadership. His scholarship includes single-authored journal articles, book chapters, book reviews, newspaper articles, podcasts, documentary films, critical commentaries, and numerous conference presentations. His latest piece, “The Forgotten Narratives: Mobilization, Recruitment and Wartime Experiences of World War Two African Servicemen from Southern Rhodesia, (Colonial Zimbabwe) c.1939\u20131945<\/a>” appeared in International Journal of Military History and Historiography<\/em>. Dr. Chikumbu also produces “The Dr. Anotida Chikumbu – BOOK SERIES<\/a>,” the most prestigious interdisciplinary live television podcast shows in academia.
