Events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #999999\">***<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Students in two UTC History courses in the Spring 2018 semester participated in study tours to regions they were examining in class and made films about their experiences engaging with history.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Students in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.utc.edu\/history\/profiles\/faculty\/fxf773.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr. Luke Manget&#8217;s<\/a> course on Appalachian History <a href=\"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/history\/2018\/04\/06\/history-beyond-the-classroom-exploring-appalachian-history-in-cades-cove\/\">traveled to Cades Cove, TN<\/a> as part of their semester studying\u00a0the extent to which perceptions of Appalachia have reflected historical realities and how the relationship between the region, the United States, and the world has changed over time.\u00a0 Students&#8217; films about various aspects of Appalachian history&#8211;including\u00a0the 18<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px\">th<\/span>-century Overmountain Men; the story of a dying coal town in Virginia; the recent dental phenomenon known as \u201cMountain Dew mouth\u201d;
