Around 6:30 tonight a patron became stuck in the elevator on 1st floor. We could hear the dispatcher on the intercom in the elevator car. UTC PD was notified. Fire and Rescue came and there were many men with many many tools put to use until the elevator door opened and the student was freed. At that point the elevator would not answer the call button and no lights appeared above it. Fire and Rescue, nor the police, were able to lock down the elevator from the controls below. The UTC\u00a0 PD officer in charge said he would report that the elevator company should be contacted in the morning and asked for maintenance. Since we had one elevator operating without issue I didn’t think it worth asking the elevator man to make an overtime visit. We have posted that side Out of Order and placed trashcans in front of the doors. It would probably not go amiss to make sure a call to the elevator company is made in the morning on our end too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
