This October marks the 10th anniversary of National Bullying Prevention Month, a campaign instituted by the PACER Center to bring communities together to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. While the PACER Center focuses on the needs of children and youths, bullying is a social issue that plagues many age groups and social settings in our world. Many of UTC Library\u2019s online resources can assist with research on the many forms of bullying and can help provide context for why we should stand up against bullying.<\/p>\n

Most people associate bullying as an issue with young people in school. Bullying, however, can occur among all age groups at all levels of education. Some resources available include articles like \u201cPrevention of Bullying in Early Educational Settings: Pedagogical and Organisational Factors Related to Bullying\u201d in the European Early Childhood Education Research Journal and \u201cBullying at a University: Students\u2019 Experiences of Bullying\u201d in Studies in Higher Education. The ebook \u201cKeeping the Child Healthy and Safe\u201d has ideas about how to create environments free of bullying.<\/p>\n

Bullying is also not limited to occurring at school, as evidenced by \u2019Yes, We Have an Anti-Bullying Policy, But\u2026\u2019 HR Professionals\u2019 Understandings and Experiences with Workplace Bullying Policy\u201d in Communication Studies and the ebook \u201cManaging Workplace Bullying.\u201d Issues of bullying online and in the workplace are just as prevalent.<\/p>\n

Together, we can work toward removing bullying from our schools, our workplaces, and the places we inhabit online. We can be inspired programs like Stop Bullying Now!, featured in the article \u201cStop Bullying Now! A Federal Campaign for Bullying Prevention and Intervention\u201d also from the Journal of School Violence. By better understanding what bullying is, how and where it occurs, and how people work to prevent it, we can join the worldwide effort toward stamping out bullying.<\/p>\n
