\"Lindsey<\/a><\/p>\n

Meet Lindsey Solomon \u2013 Circulation and Electronic Resources Specialist at Lupton Library as of April 2010.\u00a0 In addition to assisting patrons at the Circulation Desk, Lindsey helps our Electronic Resources Librarian collect usage data for library databases, compiles Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) statistics for the annual report, and helps troubleshoot and update our circulating laptops.<\/p>\n

Lindsey moved here from Savannah, GA where she recently completed her M.A. in Arts Administration at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).\u00a0 She says that when she finished her B.A. at Carson Newman, she had a hard time deciding whether to become a librarian, go into graphic design, or do something in arts administration.\u00a0Her thesis focused on ways to make art museums more accessible to the public, more of a community place, a \u201cthird place\u201d for people.\u00a0 (According to Wikipedia, first place is home, second place is work, and third places \u201care \u2018anchors\u2019 of community life and facilitate and foster broader, more creative interaction.\u201d)\u00a0 For her thesis, Lindsey surveyed the staff at several museums , and says that the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga was her favorite.\u00a0 She now volunteers there one Sunday a month.<\/p>\n

Lindsey\u2019s first job in high school was at the Greene County Public Library in her hometown of Greeneville, TN.\u00a0 In college she was the president of SAILS \u2013 Students Advocating Information and Library Studies. \u00a0This student club planned a librarianship career day and they held monthly story times for children.\u00a0 At Halloween they put together the \u201cMystery at the Library\u201d which involved videos of a \u201cdead\u201d library staffer with Dewey Decimal clues to help solve the mystery of who did it.<\/p>\n
