{"id":650,"date":"2010-08-18T10:58:05","date_gmt":"2010-08-18T10:58:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.lib.utc.edu\/archivist\/?p=650"},"modified":"2013-09-16T14:34:05","modified_gmt":"2013-09-16T14:34:05","slug":"a-day-in-the-life-of-an-archivist-well-sort-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/library\/2010\/08\/18\/a-day-in-the-life-of-an-archivist-well-sort-of\/","title":{"rendered":"A Day In The Life Of An Archivist&#8230;Well, Sort Of"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a grand plan to make a nice and tidy little post on &#8220;A day in the life of an archivist&#8221;.\u00a0 I was doomed from the start.<\/p>\n<p>An archivist&#8217;s day is neither linear nor common.\u00a0 So many different possibilities exist within that little 8-hour time frame in which we work.\u00a0 You might sit down to begin processing a collection and a patron walks in with a question.\u00a0 You might be loading up the scanner when you&#8217;re suddenly called away to speak with a donor.\u00a0 In the great Chuck Berry&#8217;s words, &#8220;&#8230;it goes to show you never can tell&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the following represents <strong><em>some<\/em><\/strong> of the activities that <strong><em>might<\/em><\/strong> take place during a &#8220;typical&#8221; day in our Head Archivist&#8217;s world.\u00a0 While all activities are subject to change, you can guaran-darn-tee that Steve <strong>WILL NOT<\/strong> be missing his early morning coffee!<em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a grand plan to make a nice and tidy little post on &#8220;A day in the life of an archivist&#8221;.\u00a0 I was doomed from the start.
