{"id":8508,"date":"2013-12-03T13:41:20","date_gmt":"2013-12-03T18:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/library\/?p=8508"},"modified":"2017-01-18T12:37:32","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T17:37:32","slug":"emergency-endnote-help-for-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/library\/2013\/12\/03\/emergency-endnote-help-for-students\/","title":{"rendered":"Emergency EndNote Help for Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are looking for help using EndNote, UTC&#8217;s wonderful citation manager, you&#8217;re in luck!<\/p>\n<p>The Library is holding an emergency session on <strong>Wednesday December 4\u00a0from 1:00-3:00 pm in Library 209<\/strong>. \u00a0This is a drop-in workshop \u2013 no registration required.\u00a0 It\u2019s first come, first served.<\/p>\n<p>For best results, please\u00a0bring your laptop.<\/p>\n<p>The first hour (1-2 pm) will be the basics of EndNote online, geared towards graduate students.\u00a0 This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>setting up an EndNote online account<\/li>\n<li>entering their references<\/li>\n<li>installing the Cite While You Write plug-in for Word<\/li>\n<li>using Cite While You Write to replace their in-text citations and bibliography with EndNote-generated citations and references<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The second hour (2-3 pm) will be reserved for questions and individual assistance on other issues.\u00a0 It would be great if students could attend both hours of the workshop.\u00a0 However, students who have already accomplished the basics being covered from 1-2 pm may choose to bring their computers and their specific issues or problems for the 2-3 pm lab portion of the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><b>For students who need to learn EndNote fast and can\u2019t come to campus for the emergency EndNote workshop on Wednesday December 4, here\u2019s some online help:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Set up an EndNote online account using the Library website links:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Start on the Library home page,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.utc.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.lib.utc.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Choose Citing Sources and EndNote under the Get Help menu<\/li>\n<li>Choose EndNote Web Home<\/li>\n<li>Click on\u00a0<em>Create an account\u00a0<\/em>and follow screen directions.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.screencast.com\/t\/hjHKoOEBCc\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Click here<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to see a brief YouTube video on creating your EndNote online account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Watch a recorded training session on using EndNote online<\/span>.\u00a0 Below are links to online classes for either Windows or Mac.\u00a0 Each class is about an hour in length and focuses primarily on EndNote online.\u00a0 EndNote desktop, designed to work with EndNote Online, is also briefly discussed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For <b>Windows<\/b>:\u00a0 EndNote Online: An EndNote Class Recording: <b>\u00a0<\/b><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/rtl9j7-yhnE\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/rtl9j7-yhnE<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0For <b>Mac<\/b>:\u00a0 EndNote Online for Macintosh: An EndNote Class Recording:\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/youtu.be\/u8RCVWJ1nZ8\">http:\/\/youtu.be\/u8RCVWJ1nZ8<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More EndNote training videos can be found here: \u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/endnote.com\/training\">http:\/\/endnote.com\/training<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For problems or questions the online training doesn\u2019t answer, you are welcome to contact <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"mailto:Beverly-Kutz@utc.edu\">Beverly-Kutz@utc.edu<\/a><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"mailto:Chapel-Cowden@utc.edu\">Chapel-Cowden@utc.edu<\/a><\/span> during regular business hours. \u00a0This EndNote guide may also be helpful:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/guides.lib.utc.edu\/endnote\">http:\/\/guides.lib.utc.edu\/endnote<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Good luck on your final projects, and please visit the Library if you need any help!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are looking for help using EndNote, UTC&#8217;s wonderful citation manager, you&#8217;re in luck!
