\"Old<\/a>\"Old<\/a><\/p>\n

Sometimes one can look back and be amazed at how much things have changed and, just as often, be surprised at how much things remain the same.\u00a0 Architecturally speaking, much has changed on the University of Tennessee’s Chattanooga<\/strong> campus since its humble beginnings in 1886.\u00a0 The first building on this campus, Old Main, housed the entire university during its fledgling years.\u00a0 Many images remain of Old Main, standing alone upon its little hill, just off of McCallie Avenue.\u00a0 The top image, dated approximately 1915, shows Old Main before its demolition, when other buildings, Founders Hall on the left and Hooper\/Race Hall on the right, had already been built around it.\u00a0 The bottom picture, taken on November 29th (and shown here in black and white for better comparison), is the exact same area as it appears today.<\/p>\n
