Celebrate the recent primary elections and Women’s History Month with\u00a0Marilyn Lloyd’s papers and correspondence<\/a> housed in Special Collections<\/a>.\u00a0Congresswoman Lloyd\u00a0became the first woman ever elected to\u00a0Congress\u00a0from Tennessee for a full term.<\/p>\n

Marilyn Lloyd’s\u00a0collection documents her\u00a020 years of service as a member of the United States House of Representatives from Tennessee’s third Congressional District from 1974 to 1994. The collection includes congressional records, copies of speeches, campaign flyers,\u00a0and letters from constituents among other items.\u00a0For her entire career, Lloyd served on the Committee on Science, Space and Technology, which had jurisdiction over much of the legislation related to the atomic energy facilities at Oak Ridge in her district. Her records related to Hamilton County cover projects as varied as the development of Chattanooga’s Warehouse Row and the Walnut Street Bridge to the Chickamauga Dam and the Aquarium.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
