Currey calls the award \u201cthe biggest honor of my professional career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Longtime University of Tennessee system leader Lofton K. Stuart Jr. became interim vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Feb. 1. He will serve in his current, transitional role through the appointment of a permanent successor to Bryan Rowland, who stepped down in January.<\/p>\n

Stuart retired in 2016 after a 43-year career with the UT System that included two stints as executive assistant to UT presidents\u2014Joe Johnson and John Petersen\u2014and various senior leadership roles with UT Alumni and Development. In those roles, Stuart advocated for and championed the same departments on campuses across the UT System.<\/p>\n

In Memoriam<\/strong><\/h3>\n

\nEric T. Lane, a longtime professor of physics, passed away on Oct. 12 at the age of 81. He graduated with a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Physics from Rice University and a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University. He retired from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga after 37 years and had more than 40 years of total experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate students physics, physics laboratories, astronomy, computer science programming, math and chemistry.<\/p>\n

Lane won several awards for groundbreaking Apple II animated waves and particles programs. He dedicated more than 65 years to understanding human nature and behavior, spending his last years helping people in numerous ways, especially wounded warriors with PTSD.<\/p>\n
