During the 1980s and 1990s I was conducting research with colleagues on expatriate productivity, and through a variety of experiences became acquainted with the struggles that organizations were having in solving this challenge in their leadership cadres. So, I joined other scholars who were early entrants into this new field as well and tried to better understand the dynamics of global leadership in order to assist organizations in their leadership development efforts.
