UTC’s Ryan Jones named College Division Fundraiser of the Year
UTC Senior Associate Athletics Director for Advancement Ryan Jones was named the 2025 College Division Fundraiser of the Year by the National Association of Athletic Directors of Development. Jones is in his fourth year with the Mocs and has guided UTC’s fundraising efforts to unprecedented success during his tenure.
Play ball! UTC Library Special Collections showcases rare Chattanooga Lookouts photo archive
With spring training baseball in full swing, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Library’s Special Collections has published a new digital collection documenting the early history of the Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball team. The collection, titled “Sandy Sandlin Chattanooga Lookouts Photographs,” contains photographs, memorabilia, papers, newspaper clippings and other materials documenting the Lookouts from 1912 to 1987—with the bulk dating from the 1930s to the 1960s.
ARC accessibility enhanced thanks to Tennessee American Water and American Water Charitable Foundation
The ARC was awarded a $10,000 grant from the American Water Charitable Foundation in partnership with Tennessee American Water to install a new ADA-compliant chair lift, enhancing accessibility for individuals with mobility challenges.

Held as part of National Engineers Week, the E-Week Open House—taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 22 in the UTC Engineering and Computer Science Building—is designed to introduce visitors of all ages to the exciting fields of engineering and computer science. Gage Keeble’s journey through college isn’t your typical path of lectures, exams and weekend downtime. The UTC junior is double majoring in marketing: professional sales and finance while juggling roles as a chief analyst for the SMILE Fund, a member of the initial cohort of Phillips Scholars in Free Enterprise, and owning his own business.
Peak performance: UTC criminal justice professor honored for innovation in teaching
UTC Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice Katelyn Hancock has been named the recipient of the Ken Peak Innovations in Teaching Award by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS). The Ken Peak Innovations in Teaching Award recognizes faculty members for innovative and effective teaching methods that enhance learning experiences and have the potential to be replicated by other educators.
UTC, SETAAAD partner to bring vital health programs to Southeast Tennessee seniors
UTC is expanding its reach in Southeast Tennessee by partnering with the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability (SETAAAD) to bring evidence-based programs to senior centers across a 10-county region—Bledsoe, Bradley, Grundy, Hamilton, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Polk, Rhea and Sequatchie. The UTC interprofessional initiative is being spearheaded by Dr. Kristi Wick (Nursing), Dr. Erin Melhorn (Occupational Therapy) and Dr. Cathy Scott (Social Work).
“The Dutch House” comes alive: UTC’s ICA wrapping up inaugural art tour
The Institute of Contemporary Art, housed on the UTC campus, is preparing to close out its first art gallery tour. Rachel Waldrop, the director and curator of the ICA, led the momentous endeavor of getting a collection of work from Philadelphia artist Becky Suss on the road to share her creative storytelling with others.
