Move In Day: Excitement, fear, fun and a whole lot of stuff
Operation Move In brought the newest flock of Mocs to UTC. All this week at the residential housing units on campus, cars, pickups, SUVs and minivans pull in, often stuffed to the brim and unloaded by students, parents, siblings and other relatives.
UTC to launch online Master of Science in Management degree
A new Master of Science in Management online degree program at UTC begins with the spring 2024 semester. The addition of the program, housed within the Gary W. Rollins College of Business, was made official on Aug. 17 after its confirmation from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
Interdisciplinary research: Undergrads from across the country come to UTC to study Chattanooga’s greenways
This summer, Chattanooga’s greenways became a laboratory for 10 undergraduate students from across the country. Intertwining ecology, biology, geography and public policy, the students used their interdisciplinary research in hopes to improve the Tennessee Riverwalk and South Chickamauga Creek Greenway.
UTC to confer first Essentials of Leadership Certificate
This month, Wanda Lockhart will be the first awardee of the Essentials of Leadership Certificate—the first undergraduate certificate program offered by UTC. Lockhart is the director of clinical reporting for BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee.
Advice to incoming freshmen from a graduating student: “Keep exploring, try new things and become familiar with change”
As an intern this summer in UTC Communications and Marketing, Peyton Schultz spent 12 weeks writing about UTC students, faculty and staff and their accomplishments. From research programs to new job prospects to exciting summer internships, she discovered there are many people on campus with great experiences to share.
Junior achievement: Inaugural University High cohort arrives at UTC
Aug. 9 was the first day of class on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga campus. For 56 high school juniors, that is. University High, a Hamilton County Schools initiative headquartered at UTC, made its long-awaited debut. The program was designed as a college pipeline for high school students who might not have seen themselves heading toward a four-year university education.
Mi campus es su campus: UTC to host first Spanish speaking tour
For the first time in its history, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will offer Spanish-language campus tours starting this month. The inaugural guided tour, led by UTC students, will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25. Buses will pick up prospective high school students and their families at 4 p.m. from La Paz Chattanooga—located at 809 S. Willow St.—and a trio of local high schools: The Howard School, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy and East Ridge High School.
UTC football program commended for its life saving work by national donor organization
Thanks to the efforts of Mocs football student-athletes in April, 200 members of the UTC campus community have been added to the national Be The Match Registry for blood stem cell and marrow donations. The Mocs football team has been involved with Be The Match since 2011, adding 1,189 people to the registry over the years.
