Each spring the Cress Gallery hosts the Senior Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions, the capstone event of the creative research of students enrolled in the professional curriculum of the Department of Art at UTC.\u00a0 The 2014 Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibitions \u201cShow One\u201d will run until Friday, April 11, at the Cress Gallery of Art.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Cress will close during the exhibition transition, April 12-14, and then \u201cShow Two\u201d will open Tuesday, April 15 with artists\u2019 talks to begin at 5 p.m. in the auditorium of Cadek Hall followed by a public reception from 6-7:30 p.m. in the UTC Fine Arts Center lobby.\u00a0 \u201cShow Two\u201d will run from April 16-April 25.<\/p>\n

Admission is free and open to the public, as are all events and programs associated with the Cress Gallery.<\/p>\n

Cress Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. \u2013 7:30 p.m. Monday \u2013 Friday; 1 p.m. \u2013 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.\u00a0 The Cress Gallery is located in the lobby of the UTC Fine Arts Center at 752 Vine Street. Cadek Hall is located at 725 Oak Street, just a short walk from the Cress in the Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n

Both shows feature the work of students who are graduating from the Department\u2019s curricular concentration areas of Graphic Design, Painting and Drawing, Photography and Media Arts, and Sculpture.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdvancing a position or proposition in visual form, the student artists in this exhibition respond to the contexts of our contemporary world and its challenges with a body of work that is conceptually thought provoking and timely, and conceived in a wide range of material and form,\u201d said Ruth Grover, Director and Curator of the Cress Gallery of Art.<\/p>\n

Student Artists in \u201cShow One\u201d are Danielle Anderson, Kelsi Bruce, Alex Chen, Bethany Congdon, Ashley Hamilton, Eric Higgins, Travis Hitchcock, Taylor Kinser, Kara Kollars, Molly Schimpf, and Adam Tetzlaff.<\/p>\n

\u201cShow Two\u201d features Keren Beddoe, Claire Bloomfield, Brandis Bovel, Jan Burleson, Chris Hamby, Dolores Hoffman, Adam Kirby, Chase Long, Chris Lykins, Laura Little, Erick Montesinos, Dannie Myers, and Maggie Paden.<\/p>\n
