UTC is proud to be Chattanooga\u2019s university. The future of our campus and the future of our city are integrally linked. One of the reasons students choose UTC is to experience Chattanooga\u2019s vibrant downtown scene. In partnership with CARTA, Chattanooga’s public transit provider, the Mocs Express will add an extended route connecting the campus to downtown, beginning in the fall semester.<\/p>\n
\u201cCARTA approached the University about adding this route. We were interested in better connecting downtown and the campus community,\u201d Michelle Morales, Associate Director of UTC Auxiliary Services, said.<\/p>\n
The Mocs Express is a free shuttle for UTC students, faculty, and staff. A validated UTC ID gets riders unlimited free access to the buses that circle the campus and perimeter parking.<\/p>\n
The new bus route will still circle the perimeter of campus, but will now stop in the heart of downtown Chattanooga. After passing the UTC Metropolitan Building on the corner of McCallie Avenue and Houston Street, the bus will continue on to 7th<\/sup> Street and turn right at Broad Street. The bus will make its way back to campus by turning right on East Fourth Street and heading back toward McKenzie Arena. To see a map of the new route, click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Buses that run the new route will display “MOCS EXPRESS DOWNTOWN” on the marquee.<\/p>\n \u201cStudents will need to be highly aware of which route the bus is taking when they board. Each bus will still circle campus, but the Mocs Express Downtown bus will take a little longer to get around campus than the others because of the additional downtown stops,\u201d Morales said.<\/p>\n The Mocs Express runs from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on regular class days, Reading Day, and final exam days during the Fall and Spring semesters.
