This year marks the 35th<\/sup> anniversary of the Patten Performances, which brings the finest talent in music, dance, and theater right to our doorstep at the UTC Fine Arts Center.<\/p>\n

\"Rioult<\/a>All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at the UTC Fine Arts Center on the corner of Vine and Palmetto Streets.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Check online for ticket information<\/a>.<\/p>\n

September 9 \u2013 Ramsey Lewis<\/a><\/h3>\n

Lewis, called \u201cthe great performer,\u201d is a multi-Grammy-winning jazz legend who was already one of the nation\u2019s most successful jazz pianists by 1965.<\/p>\n

September 20 \u2013 Count This Penny<\/a><\/h3>\n

Patten Unplugged brings this country-folk group with a new pop twist. Count This Penny\u2019s first EP charted on iTunes\u2019 singer-songwriter Top 10.<\/p>\n

\"Ramsey<\/a>October 14 \u2013 Rioult Dance<\/a><\/h3>\n

Based in NYC, this modern dance company \u2013 one of the greatest dance companies of the century \u2013 presents the works of Pascal Rioult.<\/p>\n

November 5 \u2013 Dave Mason<\/a><\/h3>\n

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Mason, formerly of the band Traffic, brings his influential guitar styled to UTC.<\/p>\n

February 17 \u2013 Mummenschanz<\/a><\/h3>\n

If the only thing you know of mime theater is white faced actors pretending to be trapped in invisible boxes, then you need to see Mummenschanz. The group uses sculptural masks and the manipulation of light to create a playful show.<\/p>\n

February 24 \u2013 Rory Block<\/a><\/h3>\n

After having dedicated her life to learning how to play the blues in 1964 Block has become one of the most celebrated female acoustic blues artists alive.<\/p>\n

\"Count<\/a>March 7 \u2013 Cello Fury<\/a><\/h3>\n

A part of Patten Unplugged, this performance surprisingly combines cello with rock. Consisting of three cellists and a drummer, Cello Fury has packed out venues ranging from concert halls to rock clubs.<\/p>\n

March 10 \u2013 The Great Gatsby<\/a><\/h3>\n

The classic novel of decadence, idealism, and darkness is brought to life by the Montana Repertory Theater, one of the most respected touring companies in the nation.<\/p>\n

This series was inaugurated in 1980 to honor of Dorothy Patten, one of Chattanooga\u2019s most famous performing artists. Patten appeared in more than 30 Broadway plays, countless touring and summer stock productions, television shows and the movie, Botany Bay, with Alan Ladd and James Mason.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
