Sargent will discuss \u201cLessons from the Fiscal History of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the Scott L. Probasco, Jr. Chair of Free Enterprise, this event is free and open to the public.\u00a0 Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.<\/p>\n<p>Sargent holds the Ph.D. from Harvard University and has been awarded honorary doctoral degrees from the Stockholm School of Economics, European University Institute, the University of Bern, and the University of Minnesota.<\/p>\n<p>He is the William R. Berkeley Professor of Economics and Business at New York University.\u00a0 He is a fellow of the Econometric Society, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and past president of the American Economic Association, the Econometric Society, and the Society for Economic Dynamics and Control.<\/p>\n<p>More than 150 of Sargent\u2019s articles have been published in journals, including the <em>American Economic Review, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Theory, Quantitative Economics, International Economic Review, Journal of Banking and Finance, <\/em>and the <em>Quarterly Journal of Economics<\/em><strong>.\u00a0 <\/strong>He is the author of 12 books, including <em>Robustness<\/em><strong>, <\/strong><em>The Big Problem of Small Change<\/em><strong>, <\/strong><em>The Conquest of American Inflation<\/em><strong>, <\/strong><em>Rational Expectations Econometrics<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>and a textbook on<em>Recursive Macroeconomic Theory<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2011, Sargent was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for his \u201cempirical research on cause and effect in the macroeconomy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Edward J.
