Students from 27 different countries were represented at a successful International Festival held recently on campus.\u00a0 Approximately 600 UTC students attended and participated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis event gave students a platform to showcase their cultures,\u201d said Rosite George, Assistant Dean of Students, Office of Multicultural Affairs.\u00a0 \u201cStudents who leave home and leave their countries behind had the chance to highlight their culture on campus.\u00a0 Our international students interacted with locals students\u2014many of our local students expressed an interest in exchange programs so that they can study in another country.\u201d<\/p>\n
The night began with a procession of students, each holding their home country flag.\u00a0 More rich experiences followed\u2014there was a demonstration of capoeira, a Brazilian marshal art form; a Bollywood dance performance by the Indian Student Association; singing groups performed including Smooth Dialects, who sang reggae and R & B music; a local salsa band got the crowd moving and belly dancers also performed.<\/p>\n
