Chattanooga Mocs Football deserves a big \u201cCongratulations!\u201d but maybe not for what you think.<\/p>\n

Mocs fans know that the team has clinched the Southern Conference championship and the automatic bid in the FCS Playoffs for the first time since 1984.<\/p>\n

The Mocs also lead the SoCon in home attendance, averaging 10,492 in five home games this season. Mocs Football have hit that mark only four previous times in school history\u2014and three of those (2009, 2010, 2011) have been since Head Coach Russ Huesman took the helm.<\/p>\n

In fact, the Mocs draw more than seven of the Top 10-ranked FCS teams in the nation.\u00a0Only North Dakota State and Jacksonville State are ranked in the Top 10 and draw more fans.<\/p>\n

The Mocs are ranked No. 9 in Sports Network Top-25 and FCS Coaches Polls, tying a program record.<\/p>\n

Since Coach Huesman\u2019s tenure began in 2008, UTC has seen a dramatic growth in attendance at home football games.\u00a0Seven of the Mocs\u2019 Top 10 crowds in school history have come in home games played under Huesman.<\/p>\n

The Football Mocs have been averaging 10,584 fans per game since the start of 2009.\u00a0Prior to Huesman\u2019s arrival, UTC averaged 5,767 fans per game in the 2008 season.<\/p>\n

2014 ATTENDANCE HIGHLIGHTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Attendance for the Jacksonville State game was 14,285, marking the fifth highest attendance in Finley Stadium history.<\/p>\n

Attendance for the Mercer game was 10,763, ranked 16 on UTC\u2019s all-time attendance list and the 20th time Finley Stadium has hosted more than 10,000 fans at a Mocs game.<\/p>\n

Attendance at the Wofford game was 9,692, the third largest November crowd in Finley Stadium history.<\/p>\n

Mocs Athletics marketing department has won 13 awards from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) since 2010.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
