University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Chancellor Steve Angle invites you to join us for the Grand Opening of UTC\u2019s new state-of-the-art library.<\/p>\n

Come enjoy tours, entertainment, refreshments, and see our new technologies.<\/p>\n

Thursday, January 29, 2015, 3-7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Remarks and ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. at the Chamberlain Field entrance.<\/p>\n

We hope you will join us as we bring a new level of information resources to Chattanooga.<\/p>\n

Parking is available in the 5th<\/sup> Street Garage, which is located at 700 East 5th<\/sup> Street.<\/p>\n

\n

Check out the new UTC Library<\/h1>\n

Lots of computers, Chromebooks loaded with software and tools for all disciplines, a media studio\u2014the new UTC Library also has a 3D printing and scanning equipment.\u00a0 The new facility is open to students, faculty, staff, and more.<\/p>\n

UTC alumni may use the UTC Library if they present a card issued by the UTC Alumni Office of Alumni Affairs.\u00a0 \u00a0With the courtesy card, alumni may borrow books, DVDs, and use a laptop at the library. See the UTC Library borrowing policies for UTC alumni<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UTC retirees<\/a> and Hamilton County teachers<\/a> may also use the new library with a courtesy card.<\/p>\n

Visitors who would like to access library materials<\/a> can pay $50 for a courtesy card.\u00a0 They will need to present a state-issued photo ID with a current address and pay by cash or check.\u00a0 The card can be used for one year from the date of issue.<\/p>\n

Visit the UTC Library online<\/a> and learn additional information about patron groups, hours, and much more.<\/p>\n

Prepare to be wowed <\/strong><\/p>\n

From 1974 until 2014, the UTC Library was housed in the Lupton Memorial Library, named for T. Cartter and Margaret Rawlings Lupton. On January 5th, 2015, the UTC Library moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art building with more than 400,000 titles held in its collection.<\/p>\n

Enter the ground floor and you\u2019ll find most of the physical collections, including books, periodicals, and audio-visual materials.\u00a0 Quiet study areas area nestled here.<\/p>\n

On the first floor, Circulation Services will provide laptops, cameras, and calculators.\u00a0 There\u2019s a film collection, magazines, newspapers and special reading sections, including new books and children\u2019s literature.\u00a0 Students and faculty can reserve small study rooms.\u00a0 There\u2019s a graduate student lounge, open reading areas, a 24\/5 study space and Starbuck\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Take the speedy elevator to the second floor and there are 200 seats in the Information Commons, where students can request assistance with research.\u00a0 Several practice presentation rooms, classrooms, large study rooms, and offices are also available.<\/p>\n

The Studio, a high-end media center with audio and video support and a presentation studio, is an exciting part of the third floor.\u00a0 Quiet reading areas, multiple study rooms, the Center for Advisement and Student Success, the Writing Center, and tutoring services fill the remaining space.<\/p>\n

A grand reading room is located on the fourth floor, amid private study areas, meeting spaces, Special Collections, and the University\u2019s permanent Art Collection.\u00a0 The Walker Teaching Resource Center and the Center for Academic and Innovative Technologies are also housed there.<\/p>\n
