The UTC School Psychology Student Association (SPSA) was formed recently to network and call attention to the UTC School Psychology program, according to Trevour Schoeller, a current Ed.S. student in the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have 28 members, several are in internships and some are in practicums,\u201d said Schoeller, who serves as president of the student group.<\/p>\n

The UTC SPSA held a series of fundraisers so that students could attend the 2015 National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) annual convention in Walt Disney World.\u00a0 Several UTC students participated in poster presentations.<\/p>\n

Students who attended the NASP convention will present on March 20th at 4 p.m. in Pfeiffer Hall room 105.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be a group presentation where we discuss different things we have learned, such as how being sleep deprived can show itself in similar ways like ADHD,\u201d Schoeller explained.\u00a0 \u201cWe also will be discussing how to get the most out of attending NASP, such as what to attend and what type of sessions there are and what you get from the different types.\u201d<\/p>\n

Presenters include Schoeller, Carrie Lawson, Tiayra Branch, Amanda Brandon, Shaina Hall, Andrew Cole, and Courtney Spaulding.<\/p>\n

Additional officers for the SPSA include:\u00a0 Carrie Lawson, Vice-President; Amanda Brandon, Secretary; Ashley Jackson, Treasurer; Elizabeth Snelling and Grace Terrell, Communication Officers; and Courtney Spaulding and Andrew Cole, Social Media Officers.<\/p>\n

The UTC SPSA is also interested in providing opportunities for supplemental learning and community service.\u00a0 Members recently met with Dr. Tom Buggy, Siskin Chair of Excellence, for focused instruction regarding the use of video self-modeling and students with autism.<\/p>\n
