How many times have you heard a conversation start out with \u201cThis might sound crazy, but\u2026?\u201d Some of the best ideas are born from these conversations, and that is exactly what organizers of TEDxChattanooga are hoping.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t miss TEDxChattanooga on February 27, 2016, at the Roland W. Hayes Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.<\/p>\n

Tickets go on sale Monday, August 3, 2015, at www.tedxchattanooga.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis might sound crazy, but\u2026\u201d is the theme for the talks. Applications and nominations for speakers for TEDxChattanooga can be submitted beginning August 3 at www.tedxchattanooga.com<\/a>; the deadline for applying is September 7. The roster of speakers will be announced fall 2015.<\/p>\n

\"TEDxChattanooga-square-card-twitter-avatar\"<\/a>\u201cSome of the most creative, inspiring and thought-provoking conversations begin with someone saying \u2018this might sound crazy, but\u2026,\u2019\u201d said TEDxChattanooga organizer David Levine, Cline Chair of Excellence in Physical Therapy at UTC. \u201cThe plan to build an aquarium on the Tennessee River might have started with \u2018this might sound crazy, but . . .\u2019\u00a0 We are looking for examples of crazy ideas that have the power to change our society for the better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with Levine, Linda Frost, dean of the Honors College at UTC, serves as TEDxChattanooga organizer. A team of community leaders will be leading the event and selecting the speakers.<\/p>\n

TEDxChattanooga organizers are seeking sponsorships from local businesses and individuals.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking for partners to help us engage the innovators that will be speaking at and attending TEDxChattanooga,\u201d said Frost. \u201cSponsoring TEDxChattanooga is an opportunity to showcase your organization\u2019s vision for our community\u2019s collective future and to stand out as a thought leader in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

About TEDx, x = independently organized event<\/h3>\n

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)<\/p>\n
