{"id":14388,"date":"2015-12-17T11:45:55","date_gmt":"2015-12-17T16:45:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/?p=14388"},"modified":"2016-01-21T13:06:37","modified_gmt":"2016-01-21T18:06:37","slug":"nancy-badger-honored-with-disability-advocacy-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogarchive.utc.edu\/news\/2015\/12\/nancy-badger-honored-with-disability-advocacy-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Nancy Badger Receives Disability Advocacy Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/counseling-personal-development-center\/profiles\/csh588.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Nancy Badger<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Assistant Vice Chancellor of Student Services &amp; Director of the Counseling and Personal Development Center, was recently recognized by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Chattanooga.MCD\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Mayor\u2019s Council on Disability<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI am very honored to receive this award.\u201d Badger continued, \u201cI have always been an advocate \u00a0for people with disabilities and have always been a person with a disability.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In honor of the 25th anniversary of the \u00a0Americans with Disabilities Act, the council celebrated the obstacles overcome for those with disabilities, and the tireless efforts of those who recognize the potential for more. Badger was awarded the Rochelle Ward Advocacy Award during a ceremony at the Hunter Museum of American Art. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI feel that people with disabilities have come a long way to becoming productive members of society. I also know that there are still negative stereotypes, physical and technological barriers, and lowered expectations which still keep people with disabilities from succeeding.
