Summer in Paris 2016, July 1-31.<\/p><\/div>\n

Experience four unforgettable weeks in Paris and earn up to ten general education credit hours, July 1-31. Act now! Space is limited.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The application deadline is March 1. To learn more, attend an <\/span>Information Session: Wednesday, February 10, 4 P.M.<\/b> in Fletcher 305 or <\/span>Friday, February 12, 2 P.M.<\/b> in Brock 101. All students in good academic standing are eligible; there are no prerequisites required for the month-long program.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Summer in Paris Program is ideal for students who want a first study abroad experience or those who are unable to study abroad for a semester. \u00a0It combines classroom work, local excursions, and the first-hand study of the culture and civilization of the capital of France. \u00a0There are faculty-led tours of churches, museums, monuments, neighborhoods, markets, factories, and government institutions. Students will be housed at the Fondation des Etats-Unis located in Cit\u00e9 Universitaire, a mere 15 minutes city center via the nearby metro line. Students will have their own individual bedroom and access to shared kitchens, bathrooms, study rooms, and laundry facilities.<\/p>\n

ECON 1010<\/b>: Principles of Macroeconomics: France and the European Union (3 hour credit, taught in English).<\/span><\/p>\n

This course fulfills general education requirements in Behavioral and Social Sciences.<\/p>\n

This course is designed to give you a basic understanding of money and banking, economic fluctuations, fiscal and monetary policy, economic growth, and international economics; special emphasis on the American and European central banks and monetary policies on each continent as well as fiscal policies in the U.S. and France during the 2007-2009 Great Recession.<\/p>\n

Excursions may include: Factories (the Peugeot Citro\u00ebn Automobile Plant in Poissy); Government Institutions (the Organization of Economic Cooperation & Development and the French Economic Observatory at Sciences Po); Paris city markets.<\/p>\n

MLNG 1500:<\/b> World Cinema: Paris (3 credit hours, taught in English) or <\/span>FREN 3240r: <\/b>French Cinema (3 credit hours,taught in French).<\/span><\/p>\n

Fulfills General Education Requirements in Fine Arts and Humanities or Elective Credit toward French major or minors.<\/p>\n

This course is designed to give you a basic understanding of French cinema through the study of key figures and movements of the septi\u00e8me art from the 1960s to the present day; analysis of the art of film as a visual narrative; special emphasis on films set in or about Paris.<\/p>\n

Excursions may include: Churches (Notre Dame, the Sainte Chappelle and Sacr\u00e9-Coeur); Museums (the Louvre, the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019Orsay, the Beaubourg and the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que fran\u00e7aise); Monuments (the Eiffel Tower, Versailles, l\u2019Arc de Triomphe); Neighborhoods (Monmartre, Mouffetard, Montorgueil and the Marais).<\/p>\n
