The magazine is brimming with student submitted art, poetry, and creative writing, both fiction and nonfiction, from cover to cover. So, what should you expect from this year\u2019s edition?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are always immensely grateful for those who contribute. This year we had a record number of art submissions (triple from last year!) and that was so cool in so many ways. We&#8217;re a literary and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">arts<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> magazine, but since we are published through an English class and out of the English department, sometimes it&#8217;s hard to reach the artists,\u201d said Rachel Smith, Editor, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sequoya Review.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p>Smith explained that this year\u2019s submissions also had a high number of interpretive pieces.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was gratifying to watch the staff discuss the meaning of a piece for fifteen minutes, because I knew it meant our readers would have similar reactions. It was a goal of mine to have a journal that could be read multiple times and still enjoyed, and I think we achieved that this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As faculty advisor, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/english\/profiles\/faculty\/knk737.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sybil Baker<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, UC Foundation Associate Professor, English, oversaw the editing and publishing process for this year\u2019s edition. From her position she\u2019s watched the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sequoya Review<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> evolve through past years. She singled out one pattern that\u2019s emerged:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn some years one category\/genre might be stronger than another, but overall in terms of quality and outreach, I think the SR gets better every year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Next year, <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.utc.edu\/english\/profiles\/faculty\/abc125.php\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dr. Sarah Einstein<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Assistant Professor, English will oversee the publication of Sequoya Review as advisor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you don\u2019t know her [Einstein] yet, you\u2019re missing out,\u201d Smith noted. \u201cShe\u2019s going to take the journal to new heights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 2016 edition features an interview with Einstein where she admits how \u201cblown away\u201d she is by the hard working students she\u2019s encountered since joining our Campus last year. She also offers some insight,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI used to be the managing editor for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brevity<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and hanging on my wall was the Worst Piece Anyone Ever Sent to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Brevity.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> It was my piece.
