\"utc-police-09\"<\/a>Stronger alliances and a devoted force against sexual assault are just some of the enhanced measures UTC is taking this year for preventing and responding to crime.<\/p>\n

With a grant awarded to the University through the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice’s Stop Violence Against Women Program<\/a>, UTC has hired and trained a new sergeant devoted specifically to investigating and coordinating education about crimes against women.<\/p>\n

These measures also include a more solidified relationship with the City of Chattanooga\u2019s Police Department.<\/p>\n

In a memorandum of agreement signed between the University\u2019s Police Department and the City of Chattanooga Police Department, the two have opened a clear path for sharing resources and combining strengths to ensure the safety of Campus and the greater Chattanooga community.<\/p>\n

At the memorandum\u2019s signing, Chancellor Steven Angle explained,<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all are working very hard to do everything possible to provide a safe environment for our students and for all of our faculty, staff, and people who visit the University. This collaboration between the UTC Police Department and the City of Chattanooga Police Department is very keen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Andy Berke added, \u201cUTC students are Chattanoogans and they need to be safe. Today\u2019s actions take us another step in that direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
